Om Shamm Shanishcharayah namah!

Any one who is familiar with the planet Shani/ Saturn is aware that generally Lord Shani symbolises cruelty and problems in peoples earthly existence. Its adverse nature, is supposed to give rise to various afflictions, losses in business, chronic diseases, financial sorrows, accidents etc.
However, the positive part is that such problems and worries can be mitigated by following certain procedures and alleviations.
One can follow all or any of them, as long as it is done with sincerity, dedication and piety. Some of them are as follows:

  • Feed ants with Panjiri ( roasted  mixture ) made of wheat flour/ atta, jaggery/ gurd, black Sesame Seeds/ kala til and Ghee, every Saturday.
  • Donate a copper coin/ piece to a ' dakot' ( person who accepts offerings made to Shani maharaj) on a Saturday.
  • Chant Hanuman Chalisa and Sunder Kaand ka paatdh EVERYDAY.
  •  Donate mustard (sarson) / Sesame (til) oil to a dakot or at the Shani Temple on a Saturday. You can also donate money for the same.
  • A unique aspect of Shani Maharaj is that, to reduce the ill-effects of Shani dev, you can also donate things which are dark blue or black in colour- like Black Sesame( Til), black/ blue cloth, black grams, silk cloth etc. on a Saturday.
  • You can also donate leather items on a Saturday.
  • The gem stone for this planet is Blue Sapphire/ Neelam which is a very powerful stone, hence it should first be tried out for a brief period before being used  on a Saturday.
Since the effects of Saturn are of a karmic nature, we have to remember that they are basically lessons of life.....they teach us to be humble, kind, benevolent, patient.....As I read this wonderful saying :
So, you are mainly affected by your karma- of past as well as present! Hence, the philosophy of birth and rebirth and its various manifestations and circumstances.
But as I said earlier, all is not lost......you can improve your present as well as future by keeping in consideration the above mentioned points.
OM SHAMM SHANISHCHARAYA NAMAH!
